Ecumenical Youth Weekend
Time:
24 June 2011 - 6:00pm - 26 June 2011 - 3:30pm
Location:
Scottish Churches House, Dunblane “An opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, develop ideas for the future…"
Background
The idea for this gathering comes from young people who have been involved in international ecumenical events and found a lack of space in which to apply their experience in a Scottish context. It is hoped that this weekend will allow young people interested in ecumenism at any level to meet, share experiences and discuss issues.
Eligibility
Anyone between 18 and 35 with an interest in exploring how Christians from different traditions can share and work together. No particular experience or skills are required apart from a willingness to engage with other people.
Thanks to the generous support of the Scottish Churches House Ecumenical Youth Fund there is no charge for the weekend. Participants will be expected to make their own travel arrangements but no-one should feel unable to attend for financial reasons and help can be given with travel costs if this is the case.
Programme
The weekend is intended to be informal and will allow time for those attending to get to know each other, worship together and take part in discussion sessions. The worship throughout the weekend will combine ecumenical material with contributions participants bring from their own traditions. Discussion sessions will focus on sharing experiences and looking at ecumenism and the place of young people within the churches in Scotland. On the Saturday evening we hope to be joined by some significant figures from the ecumenical movement in Scotland and have a chance for sharing between generations.
The programme will begin with a meal at 6pm on Friday and end by 3:30pm on Sunday.
Venue
Scottish Churches House is an ecumenical conference centre on the Cathedral square in Dunblane. It was founded in 1960 as 'a place that the churches hold in common, and from which they develop their ministry and mission together' and has been an important center for ecumenical meeting ever since. Accommodation is provided in en-suite twin rooms and there is full disabled access. Scottish Churches House is easily accessible by train, bus and car.

Booking
Since places are limited they will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. There are 24 places available initially based on sharing twin rooms but if demand is greater than this then we can explore alternative accommodation within the town.
To book please email Margaret Boon (reservations@scottishchurcheshouse.org) with the following information:
