Meeting Points: 'To proclaim release for prisoners'
Time:
4 November 2010 - 10:30am - 4:00pm
Location:
Scottish Churches House, Dunblane
Each year the month of November is marked in Churches throughout the U.K. with Prisoner’s Week. This year it will be held in Scotland from 21-28 November with the theme More than a number.
This theme is about seeing people as people, recognising each has a unique story to tell, each has their relationships, their past, present and future. The theme offers an aspiration that all in our communities can reach out for the 'More than' and look to life's potential with hope, healing and fresh beginnings.(from the Prisoner’s week website)
At Scottish Churches House the Meeting Points day event on 4th November will look forward to Prisoner’s Week. Three people who will have or have had a daily experience of prison life will share with us their reflection on that and on Jesus words of our title “Proclaim release for prisoners”. What does that mean in terms of prison life; and what kind of freedom do ex-prisoners experience in the community after they have served their sentence? How can Churches respond creatively?
