Jubilee Appeal
Scottish Churches House in Dunblane was founded in 1960 on the Golden Jubilee of the 1910 Edinburgh Conference – itself the starting point of the ecumenical movement in Scotland – when some derelict cottages were restored to become a firm Scottish base for Oikoumene: the whole inhabited world of church and society in co-operation.
Our Vision
We ask you to join us in reaffirming the House’s unique purpose as a welcoming place for the people of Scotland and beyond where differences can be entertained openly, with integrity and mutual respect. The House is a vital place where essential challenging issues of the day can be explored in breadth and in depth: where faith meets and is tested by contemporary social and political realities – local, national and global. It is an inspiring place of reflection, retreat and encounter with the arts: a place of true re-creation where imaginative plans for the way forward can be hatched together. At the approach of our own Golden Jubilee, we invite you to work with us to secure an exciting, sustainable future for Scottish Churches House and see it fit to meet the challenges and needs of the 21st Century.
Our Target
Our fundraising target of £500,000 will enable us to provide:
- an upgraded, well-equipped conference facility
- comfortable en-suite accommodation for our guests
- improved access for all, including a new lift in the main house
- a ‘green’ makeover: double glazing, solar panels and better insulation
- modernised dining facilities.
Your gift will also enable us to continue to recruit outstanding staff whose ability and vision will help facilitate a new generation of dynamic events and encounters for a contemporary Oikoumene in Scotland.
