Progress with New SCH

The Convener of the Interim Management Group (Danus Skene) and the Convener and Secretary of Scottish Friends of Ecumenism (Jeanette Allan & Jenny Easson) report as follows:

"The process of establishing Scottish Churches House as a distinct Company, with charitable status, is nearing completion.  The new SCH Ltd will rent the premises for a nominal amount from Action of Churches Together in Scotland, and will be free to make its own decisions in planning programmes and promoting its use.

 The present membership of Scottish Friends of Ecumenism will form the initial core membership of the Company, which when formed will seek to expand that membership.

 There will also be scope for membership by organisations, such as congregations and others.

 We hope to have the new governance in place over the summer, though the exact timing will be determined by the registration process with OSCR (the charity regulator) and a subsequent General Meeting of the Company."
