Scottish Churches House Programme
Our Programme of Events builds on the patterns developed by previous Wardens and includes some new and exciting elements introduced last year as well as popular favourites... read on!
For example, the Grasping Nettles series aims to be an 'open conversation' in which one or two people facilitate a conversation on some theological or social subject. We are pleased that this series continues in 2010 with new subjects to discuss.
The Meeting Points series engages people from differing faiths, church traditions or philosophies in significant areas of concern, and seeks to move from the merely informative to an experience of encounter. We are pleased to offer more of these events in the Autumn Programme.
In preparing our programmes we work with a number of people who contribute many ideas, enthusiasm and imagination. We also value continuing partnerships with organisations in many Programme events. We wish to thank all of them most warmly for their advice and support.
The programme for July to December 2010 has been published, and details can be found in the latest copy of Inscape and also in the Upcoming Events section.
Scottish Churches House enjoyed celebrating its Golden Jubilee in July 2010, and has a renewed impetus for the future. [See News Item for a report and photos of the event]
Scotland, the world, and the church are significantly different from 50 years ago. SCH is changing also.
People have shown by their support that there is still a need for a place where churches are challenged to serve the world with integrity; lay people are empowered to be people of mission; differences are addressed with honesty and humility; different faiths and those of no faith meet in a spirit of openness; and where ways of praying and worship can be refreshed.
It has been our privilege to contribute each year to the vision of Scottish Churches House. We trust that you will, with us, be excited by what is happening at Scottish Churches House and want to be part of it.
Retreats
Retreats are often led by the Epiphany Group, a group of women and men working ecumenically across Scotland, committed in their work in Ignatian spirituality to being a force for transformation, and prayerful and supportive community.
