Volunteering

Internships and volunteering

Promoting peace and intercultural understanding

Scottish Churches House recruits volunteers from abroad for six months or a year.  They may be asked to join in the team work of the House, doing various jobs including programme management and reception, gardening and odd jobs, kitchen and domestic work.  Where qualified, some volunteers are required for internships with a focus on specific tasks such as marketing and sales, fundraising, programme management and computer development.

Make a difference and enjoy it too!

The gardens and walls on the lower slopes of Holme Hill behind the House where St Blane sited his dun in the early 7th century were laid out by volunteers from all over the world at work camps throughout the 1960s.  Nowadays, each year International Voluntary Service (IVS) recruits a dozen volunteers from Europe and elsewhere to build walls, construct garden terraces, paint benches and railings, as well as improving the inside of the House.
